Scripture Memory 2012

This year, I am blessed to be joining with a group of ladies committing to memorize scripture and to encourage one another to hide God's word in our hearts. We will each be memorizing verses or passages that we choose, two each month. This type of accountability is a blessing, because it is wonderful to know that I have my friends and sisters in Christ who are working toward the same goal! It gives us all an opportunity to know more of God's word as we encourage one another along the way. So, I will be posting my verses here throughout the year and am excited to see how God works in my life through these scriptures.

If you wonder why memorizing scripture is important, here is a brief and thorough summation of the best reasons to hide God' word in our hearts.

January 1 - "Brothers, I do not consider myself to have taken hold of it. But his one thing I do: forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus." Philippians 3:13-14

January 15 - "He who guards his lips guards his life, but he who speaks rashly will come to ruin." Proverbs 13:3

February 1 - "We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body." 2 Corinthians 4:8-10

February 15- Same as February 1 (fell behind these two weeks)

March 1- "This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down His life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.  If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth. 1 John 3:16-18

March 15 - "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead." 1 Peter 1:3

April 1 - "Dear friends, I am not writing you a new command but an old one, which you have had since the beginning. This old command is the message you have heard. Yet I am writing you a new command; its truth is seen in him and in you, because the darkness is passing and the true light is already shining."  1 John 2:7-8

About Me

My photo
I love Jesus Christ, am a seeker of beauty, and am a grateful child of God who would be lost and hopeless were it not for His grace. I am learning to walk in love, see interruptions as divine appointments, and value people and relationships above agendas and results. I pray my life is grace-filled, and brings joy and encouragement to everyone I know and meet. We are a family of 6, built by God through love, birth, and adoption, living in the beauty and the struggle that accompanies parenting kids from hard places. Got questions?
